Books of 2021

In 2021, I read a total of 26 books. That's the second most books in a year since I started tracking my reading on Goodreads.com back in 2013. My best was in 2019 when I read 31 books.

My highest rated books from last years were:

Book Cover

The Pleasure of Finding Things Out by Richard Feynman - An older book that contains stories of the famous physicist, Richard Feynman. Feynman is one of my favorite physicists and this book is quite good.

Book Cover

The Future of Humanity by Michio Kaku - I don't read many futuristic books and I don't particular like sci-fi, but this book is more science and gives a technological predication of the human race.

Book Cover

Quit Like a Millionaire by Kristy Shen - This books wraps up some concepts in the FIRE movement nicely. I gained some knowledge regarding the ROTH conversation ladder, but this year that loophole might be closed by the US government.

Book Cover

How I Built This by Guy Raz - A great book about entrepreneurship. I listened to Guy Raz's radio show of the same title on NPR for quite a while. He summarizes a lot of the lessons by founders of companies.

Book Cover

Reading to Reading by Tim Millikin - This book makes me want to get on my bicycle and cycle the world. I met the author when I was on my cycling across America trip in 2018 as he was finishing his world cycling trip. I'm very glad to have gotten a signed copy of this book directly from Tim in the UK!

Book Cover

Range by David Epstein - A great book that made me realized that I'm "normal" in the fact that I have so many interests throughout the years. I'm definitely a generalist with some specialist qualities.

Book Cover

Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty - This book is a great read that made me reorient myself. Some of the things that Jay wrote made me think twice about how I view certain emotions.

Other notable books were:

Book Cover

Love People, Not Things by Joshua Fields Millburn - This book is by one of The Minimalists. Though it didn't really make me think anything differently about my minimalism approach, but I can see it might be helpful to other people who are new to minimalism.

Book Cover

Financial Freedom by Grant Sabatier - This FIRE book is more like a summary to me since I've been into the FIRE movement for a while. Still, a good read nonetheless.

Book Cover

The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo - The de facto book on decluttering. I listened to the audio book before, but after reading the book I realized that there were key points that were emphasized, such as sorting things by categories. I'm still downsizing the amount of my possessions and this book definitely helped me.

Book Cover

You Are Here by Thich Nhat Hanh - Be in the moment. A good book to get my headspace realigned.

Book Cover

Let My People Go Surfing by Yvon Chouinard - A great book by the founder of Patagonia, the clothing company. Yvon never wanted to be a businessman. That's a sign that he would be a great businessman. I learned more about Patagonia as a company. Though I don't own anything by them, the business aspect is so fascinating.

Book Cover

Work by Crimethinc - This book makes me want to quit work. It reinforced my stance on employment.

I don't own any of these books. The library is a great place to get free stuff! A library card is the key to knowledge. I hope more people will use it. You can also access free eBooks once you have a library card and gain access to Overdrive.com or the Libby app.

Lastly, I'll leave you with my own quote:

"When I realize that I know enough, that's the day I die."
